Episode 33: TECH SERIES: How to make the most of social media (with guest Tom Lang)

We decided this summer of 2021 to spend three episodes talking about technology topics. Specifically, we are going to focus on social media, websites, and databases. We have invited some of our friends to join us. In this episode, Tom Lang leads us through a conversation about what nonprofits need to know about social media.

Tom Lang is the former Director of e-Learning at Washington Nonprofits. He has led communications and social media campaigns and thinks a lot about how to reach the people we most want to reach.

Questions to reflect on before you listen:
How do you currently use social media to grow your movement?

Discussion questions:

  1. What resonated with you about this conversation? What would you like to take back to your organization?
  2. Why does it matter that your nonprofit engage with social media?
  3. What social media channels are most important to members of your community? How can you maximize how you use those channels?
  4. Our word of the week is “social.” What does that word mean to you as you think about your nonprofit’s communication strategy?

What do you think?
